Life Assurance
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is it?
This is an insurance policy that pays a lump sum when you die.

Why would you need it?
What would be the impact on your family if you were to die?  Would they be able to maintain the mortgage payments?  Would there be sufficient income for them to maintain their standard of living?  If the answer to either question is ‘No’, then you may need a life assurance policy.

Options

The amount of cover can be structured so that it reduces in line with a repayment mortgage or stays the same for the entire term of the policy.

If you require life cover to replace your income on your death, so that your family can maintain a reasonable standard of living, this can be arranged as a lump sum or as a monthly income until the end of the policy term.

Oakmeade Financial Services is an Appointed Representative of Mortgage Intelligence Ltd, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

Think carefully before securing other debts against your mortgage.  Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. You may prefer to pay a fee for mortgage advice. If so the amount charged would depend on your circumstances but would not exceed 1% of the mortgage balance. Buy to Let mortgages are not regulated by the FSA.
